An Adjuster is an individual employed by a property and casualty insurance company or an individual to settle claims on its behalf brought by an insured individual or company. The adjuster evaluates the merits of each claim and makes recommendations to the insurance company. Basically, an adjuster is one who investigates insurance claims or claims for damages and recommends an effective settlement.
What does an insurance adjuster do?
When a policyholder files a loss claim, it is the job of the insurance adjuster to investigate the claim and determine whether a covered loss exists. On determination of such, the adjuster will move to address coverage issues or proceed with assessment of damages and payment for applicable losses.
Is their much of a demand for adjusters?
The demand for available adjusters has never been greater! Most adjusters are deployed following catastrophic events such as hurricanes, tornados, and hail storms. Even better, the demand continues to grow with the advent of weather related occurrences. Unlike other industries, adjusting appears to be unaffected by economic troubles. When loss happens... you'll be prepared to respond.
What do Independent Adjusters make?
An independent adjusters pay will vary based on several factors some of which include the types of
claims he/she handles, the amount of loss, and the number of claims. A good estimate is
somewhere between 8 and 10 thousand dollars a month before expenses.
How much money does a CAT adjuster make?
As a (CAT) catastrophe adjuster, you will be working as an independent contractor. As such, your income will depend to a large degree upon how much you want to make. Some companies pay a “per diem” (anywhere from $600-$1000/day), but most pay on a “schedule” (a per-claim amount contingent upon the gross amount of the claim). It is not unusual to average $400 per claim, and an efficient adjuster can complete upwards of 4-5 claims per day.
What are the licensing requirements to become an insurance claims adjuster?
Texas has no preset requirements such as experience in adjusting. However, they do require that you complete the state exam or an approved pre-licensing course. If you choose to do either the online or classroom pre-licensing course with us you will need to complete all 40 credit hours. Both have the 150 question exam at the end of the course. Also, they both have the NO PASS NO PAY GAURANTEE.
Who is responsible for the licensing of Texas Insurance Adjusters?
The Texas Department of Insurance Agent & Adjuster Licensing Division. The Licensing Division is responsible for the licensing and regulation of persons who wish to sell insurance or adjust property-casualty claims in the state of Texas. The Licensing Division processes license applications, renews licenses, registers appointments of agents by insurers, and regulates continuing education for licensees. The licensing of 3rd party administrators and premium finance companies is also handled by the Licensing Division.
What is reciprocity? How many states will the Texas Adjuster's license allow me to work in?
Adjuster licensing reciprocity is the system whereby a state will recognize and honor the validity of another state's license. This enables adjusters to obtain another state's license without taking that state's exam or equivalent coursework. Over 30 states grant reciprocity with the Texas All-Lines Adjuster License making it the most universally accepted adjuster license in the country. In addition, some states do not require an adjuster license to work insurance claims. Reciprocity does not mean that, having obtained the Texas Adjuster's license, you are immediately licensed in 32 states. You will still need to apply for each particular state's licenses according to the regulating agency of the state. We can handle any state agencies paperwork to help speed up your licensing process. There is a fee for this service, and it depends on the number of states you are needing us to handle.
What do I need to do to obtain a Texas Adjusters License?
As mentioned above, the state requires that you complete a 40 credit hour program. Once you have completed 40 credit hours of training you can take the final exam. The final exam is a 150 question final that needs a grade of 70% to pass. Once you have passed the final exam, you will receive a certificate of completion in the mail. When you receive this certificate you will need to mail it off to TDI (Texas Department of Insurance). You must also mail off the states application and application fee ($50.00).
